How this calculator works
- Compound mass in vial — the total milligrams (mg) listed on the vial label.
- Solvent volume added — how many milliliters (mL) of solvent/diluent are added to the vial.
- Target aliquot mass — the mass, in milligrams (mg), of a single sample aliquot you want to work out the volume for.
This applies the standard concentration formula (concentration = mass ÷ volume) to work out the solution's concentration, the liquid volume that corresponds to a given aliquot mass, and how many such aliquots the full vial yields at that concentration. It performs arithmetic only — it does not generate or imply any administration, consumption, or usage instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the solvent volume change the result?
Concentration is mass divided by volume: the same mass of compound dissolved in less solvent produces a more concentrated solution, so less liquid volume is needed to reach a given aliquot mass.
Is this calculator giving usage or administration guidance?
No. It performs concentration and volume arithmetic only, for laboratory sample preparation. It does not provide, and should not be used as, guidance for administering, consuming, or otherwise using any product in humans or animals.
This calculator performs concentration/volume arithmetic only, for laboratory research use. It does not constitute medical advice and does not provide administration, dosing, or usage guidance. All products sold are intended for laboratory research use only, not for human or animal consumption.
