About MOTS-C
MOTS-C is a mitochondrial-derived peptide (MDP) — a short peptide encoded within mitochondrial DNA rather than nuclear DNA, distinguishing it from most peptides studied in this library. It is specifically encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA region, and is one of a small number of known mitochondrial-derived peptides identified to date.
Because of this distinctive origin, MOTS-C has attracted substantial preclinical research interest in mitochondrial-to-nuclear signalling — the communication pathway between mitochondria and the cell nucleus — and in cellular stress-response and metabolic-regulation pathways, including proposed interaction with AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase), a central regulator of cellular energy metabolism.
Reliable Research Labs supplies MOTS-C as a 10 mg vial of lyophilised powder, tested to ≥99.8% purity by HPLC analysis, strictly for qualified laboratory research. See our Compound Library entry for MOTS-C for a wider overview of metabolic and longevity research peptides.
