About Semax
Semax is a synthetic peptide derived from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), specifically related to the ACTH(4-7) sequence. Unlike full-length ACTH, Semax does not retain ACTH's classical corticotropic (adrenal-stimulating) hormonal activity — its research interest instead centres on proposed neurotrophic and neuromodulatory signalling, separate from the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.
Semax has a notable country-specific clinical history: a Semax-containing nasal-spray medication is registered and used in Russia for certain neurological applications, under Russian medical regulation. This regulatory history is specific to that licensed product and jurisdiction — it does not mean Semax is an approved medicine in the UK, the EU, or the United States, and this research-use product is not that licensed pharmaceutical.
Semax has attracted substantial research interest in connection with BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) signalling and related neurotrophic pathways. Reliable Research Labs supplies Semax as a 5 mg vial of lyophilised powder, tested to ≥99.5% purity by HPLC analysis, strictly for qualified laboratory research. See our Compound Library entry for Semax for a wider overview.
